Ashish makes sweats work!

Thoughts? Yes, this has been blogged to death and its available now on topshop's site. Its nice but I don't know. I will be making a trip to topshop soon to check it out in person. A little to extreme? Are studs getting cliche? I mean I still love them but I wonder how heavy this is because my Wang bottom stud bag is so heavy that everything I use it my shoulders ache! It's $310 for the jacket and $170 for the pants. Dam, pricey for sweats!

On the other hand, HOt shoes from Louise Goldin for Topshop will be released soon! That I have to get my hands on!

Buy or skip?

I love this fanny pack/bum bag like they call it in England! I don't know if I should and which color? The blue, navy or cream. I love the vibrant blue, turquoise color but I think the navy matches pretty much everything. The cream is a bad color for me because it can get dirty quite easy. Its about $800 from Decades in LA. What should I do? Which color? And are fanny packs coming back? Who cares, right? As long as I like it.... HELP!

O how I want thy?

Regrets! Not buying these were my biggest regrets. These YSL Cage boots have been on my mind since their release Spring 09 and I still haven't been able to get them off my mind. I hate that feeling. How hot are these????? Does anyone know where I can still get my hands on these without using ebay? Please help me even though I'm broke! I'll be broke and happy at least.

Political Junkie

Yes, I am a nerd. I enjoy books, history and politics. I of course love fashion! I am so excited for Obama's State of the Union Address. So historical. I'm off to watch it now on ABC! But I'm said Ugly Betty, my favorite show, is ending this season.

This is what I see!

This is a problem, a plague of sorts. I know tons and tons of blogs and people have wrote it but it never really cross my mind really. The words on your ass! What is this, seriously? I mean, I have a pair of them too but I have never dared to wear them out. I bought it because everyone had it( yes, I was a fashion victim but now I move to my own beat), I just never wore it.

I find it so annoying to see words on someone's butt, why did this become stylish especially on college campuses? Worst, wear them with UGGs (UGGs are something I will get into another day). I saw so much today while walking to class, big girls, little girls! Why? I mean I go to school in New Jersey, which is obviously not the most stylish town especially when compare to my hometown of New York.

I am actually guilty of looking like a mess in school too, wearing sweats, leggings and pretty much anything that is really really comfy. My favorite sweatshirt, which I am wearing right now, has holes on them. Yes, they are not okay but who cares. It's funny because all friends at school see a completely different me when they hang with me outside of school, when I am home in New York. I just try more. I just can't bare to bring my pretty and expensive clothe and shoes (bags too) to school and have people drool or take them! Does where you are impact the way you dress? It does for me.

Back to the sweatpants... I seen girls usually with the PINK logo on their bootys but I see tons of HOT, SEXY, you get the picture. Girls, it is not okay!

HELP HAITI

This blog is about fashion and the little things in life that make us go gaga. But sometimes something happens that makes clothe seem so unimportant. I don't feel like writing about fashion when so many of my friends have families in Haiti and are still awaiting the whereabouts of their families. I already donated, as well as many people I know, so please do if you haven't.

The amount of money I spend on a t-shirt or a pair of shoes can pay for the lively hood of a Haitian family for a year. We here in the US of A are extremely lucky we live in a Democrat country where the government tries its best to help the needy( even though they don't always succeed. Katrina ring a bell, Mr. Bush).

I don't like gruesome pictures of bodies or anything violent so instead of posting any heartbreaking pictures, I decided to post a picture of Haiti itself. The tears, the screams, the worry, the wait, it's all so heartbreaking.

BTW, please don't forget about the beautiful country Dominican Republic as well. Some of my friends' family members in DR are hurt by the earthquake as well. DR is one of the most fun and relaxing places I visited. Please keep them in your prays!

I'm so bored sitting her at the library of my new internship. My boss is great and has given me countless opportunities, not to mention I like my co-intern. What got me thinking though was her very unattractive fur vest. I mean it isn't an ugly vest but it's not flattering on her shape. I love fur (faux( mostly but sometimes the real ones are so tempting as in my beautiful Alexander Wang fur sleeve coat I have yet to take a picture of). At the same time fur can be quite unflattering and bulky if not done or worn correctly.

My point is that faux fur or real fur might be beautiful on the hanger but you really have to try it on to see if it is good for your body type. For instance, I am a runner so my body is quite broad and not as tiny (like most Asian girls) as I would like. It is hard for me to find a great fur anything so when I do, real or fake, I buy it.

One of my favorite new fur vest is the What Goes Around Comes Around fur vest. It comes in 2 different style, long and short (I have the short one). It is actually quite flattering and I got it during the Black Friday sale at the WGCA store (go if you haven't, it's great and the sales girls are the best). It was available on Neimans site but since sold out after it went on sale (told you it's hot). I love anything animal print, plus it's very soft. Only downside, fur gets on my jacket sometimes but it's hot so well worth it. This doesn't make you look 2 sizes bigger and it isn't road kill!

When my mom told me it was great on me, I knew I had to have it because she doesn't like animal print or fur. It also comes in black.

Feathers!

Forever 21

Hussy

Just bought this adorable feather caplet for $40 (after coupons). Some sites have been selling this feather caplet for $198 but on identitystreetwear.com, I got them for $40. They were originally over $70 but they were offering crazy coupons over 45% off. It pays to shop around and compare. I can't wait for it to come to me.

I've been kicking myself ever since I missed out on the Forever 21 feather caplet with the brooch but after seeing the Hussy one, I am so happy I didn't buy it in the first place. The fashion gods have been listening to me! Which one do you like better?

Forever 21 again

Like I mention before, I use to have a love-hate relationship with Forever 21 but now I love it. Call it the recessionista in me. I saw these adorable Crackled Metallic Oxford for $24. How cute? I like the oxford trend but not willing to spend a few hundred dollars on them. Plus, these are metallic, how cute?!

Splurge or Save?

Forever 21

Jeffrey Campbell

Again, I should be studying and preparing to go back to school in a little over a week but pretty things distract me. I will miss my beloved NYC (BTW, totally unrelated note, GO JETS! I don't like sports but my brother hates the JETS so....).

It's late here on the East Coast, well early, whatever. It's 3 AM and I'm up surfing the web, mom's working out and I'm watching Somethings Gotta Give (Great MOVIE)! And I came across they Forever 21 studded military boots. They are only $32 and a dead ringer for the Jeffrey Campbell ones when they are flapped up. I actually like the Forever 21 ones better because I like the laces up and the JC ones don't look so comfortable when flapped up. Not to mention, the JC ones are over $250. Nice, but seriously how long will this stud thing last?

While we are on the subject of studs. I bought the Alexander Wang COCO duffel a few months back. It's a great bag but it is so heavy even for me. I am use to carrying tons of useless stuff in my bag but the studs make it weigh a ton. Now back to the shoes....

I like both, but what do you guys think? Splurge or save? Obviously, the quality are different but for $32, can you really go wrong?

I want a closet like this.....

But instead my closet looks like this( Just with shoes on the bottom)!

The reality of living in the Lower East Side! I am a mess too so....
My clothe are scattered everywhere in my room and draws as well! ;)

Wildly Similar?

I should be studying for my final (hopefully) attempt at the most horrible, mind bending exam ever created, the O so dreaded LSATs, but I am procrastinating as usual. I'm here listening to French music. I don't understand French but fell in love with everything French since I spend some time of my summer there traveling in Europe myself. My parents gave me the opportunity of my life this summer and let me study abroad there(best gift ever). I miss Europe so much especially LONDON! When I was in France, everyone thought I was French actually (my roommates said it was because of the way I dress). But I digress...

So I was on shopbop and checking out the What's New section and stumbled upon these Elizabeth and James Fiona Haircalf Ankle Booties. They reminded me of my BCBG pony hair platform booties expect these EJ boots have a stiletto heel. They even have a hidden platform in the front. Is it just me or what? Aren't they similar? They are hot though I have to admit but I still like the BCBG ones better. THese EJ ones are $475 and BCBG's I got on sale for about $320.

BTW, EJ have some hot new shoes out I will be reviewing later. I always love EJ creations (yes, surprise the Olsen twins are good designers) but I have yet to try their shoes. Are they comfortable? They are hot and not to mention tons of their last season shoes are on sale. Some of their shoes don't look comfortable though.

Gaga Fever!

You have the Gaga fever? I know I do. I absolutely love Lady Gaga. Her fashion sense is so crazy and out there( remember the Kermit outfit). She is like Madonna but one step crazier. She's going to be Polaroids creative director and was on Barbara Walter's most fascinating people( you know you made it then). I wonder if she is actually who she portrays 24 hours of the day or is this her on stage persona. Her fashion sense is one of a kind, her music is catchy ( is it just me or does it take a few listens to actually like her song? I hated Just Dance when it came out.) and her aura is unmistakable and unforgettable. And don't you just love the Barbie doll of her?! It isn't a Mattel creation but it was created by some fan in Japan. I wish this was around when I was in love with Barbie dolls.
O and those, Alexander McQueen shoes in her Bad Romance video! Watch the video because it's artistic and visually stimulating. I could never wear them because I would trip over but I would love to own them. My brother calls them the rat shoes and completely disdains them. He's a sport loving, wannabe macho man. He grew up with 8 girls (me and my cousins) and 2 boys, so he always was around girls. He even asked me once as a kid, "When will I get my period?" I said you already have it, look at all the blood coming out of your nose. Hahaha. And yes, my 3 younger cousins and I use to beat him up because he was the only boy. Not to mention, I waxed his legs once when we were kids. Awww, the good old days. Now he's bigger than me and can beat me up but I still do because he doesn't "hit" girls! Sorry for going off topic, but every time I see the shoes, I think of him (he's going to college next year). I think that's why fashion is so incredible and relatable because it reminds people of their own lives and congers up dear memories of the past.

Your favorite budget friendly stores?

Ever since I was a kid, my mom would always buy me the most expensive and highest quality items. Her belief was that the more expensive something is, the better quality it is. This is obviously a myth. Not to say my mom is a totally snob because this lady knows her fashion. My mom and aunts have been working in factories since the moved to the USA when they were 13. Though no one in my family owns any factories anymore, they are still obsessed with the quality of any clothing that crosses their paths. They can literally spot a fake or something cheap a mile away.

Though this has rubbed off on me, I still love to shop at more budget friendly retailers like Forever 21 (I use to love it, then I hated it in high school and finally during my last year in college, I like it), Topshop ( quite pricey if you ask me, but I still love it) and H&M ( same love-hate relationship as Forever 21. The locations that sell the best stuff are the 34th, 42nd and 51st ones in NYC). It's funny because when I shop at these stores, I tend not to purchase items over $50, expect topshop because its quite expensive. But when I go into Barneys or Saks, I don't even think twice about spending $300 for a stupid shirt or dress I might wear once. Yes, I know it makes no sense but to me it does. So what are your favorite retailers for bargains?

BTW, I heard that H&M literally throws and slashes everything that doesn't sell in the stores. How crazy is that? Can't they donate it to the poor and needy? What a waste!

Stella McCartney City Chain Tote

What is your thoughts on this bag? I'm sure you seen it on all the celebrities from Rihanna to Kate Hudson. I love it but for me the price($1145) is a tad bit too much for PVC. If it was leather, this would be mine already but PVC for over a grand? This reminds me of Chanel Coco Cabas (PVC also) that cost me under a grand and still one of my favorite bags. It is so chic and timeless and everyone I know loves my Cabas.

Back to the point, I love Stella's work but I honesty think her prices are too high especially the bags and shoes. You can find a great leather bag for the prices she charges. I was hoping this bag could go on sale and I highly doubt that because it's been a hot seller.

The chain detail and simplicity of the bag makes it incredibly timeless, in my opinion, and a great buy if you can overlook the fact that it is PVC. I have nothing against using PVC (I am a vegetarian because I can't stand eating things that once were once walking) but it is the price that goes along with these designs I don't like.

Wolford "Voile" leggings

For some strange reason, I want these. I usually don't like anything see through but these are so cute. It is freezing here in New York but that does not stop me from wanting these. I passed on an incredible Forever 21 find a few weeks ago, a sheer hoodie. It was on sale for $13 but I still passed, I hate myself sometimes. Don't you just hate when that happens?! These "leggings" are sheer bliss. So chic if paired with a cute skirt or oversized shirt or sweater. Obviously, cover up else where when rocking these because it can become trashy if you don't! Enjoy and I will look out for retailer who are selling this!

My temporary eyes for a few weeks

LASIK! This will last for about 3 weeks! Been out with sunglasses since or staying home because nothing can get into them. I already had eye issues so I have to be very cautious. My mom even paid me $500 not to go out for New Years so I won't get anything into them. AHHHH... Love being her child. Normally she won't care if I go out but this was for my health and vision and ever since I was a child i had eye issues!

Yes I know they look creepy! Wouldn't this have been a great Halloween costume. Everyone I know is freaked out by my eyes, well, everyone who seen it. My friends were all understanding when I couldn't show up for New Years!

Excuse my small, upside down looking eyes. I have monolids. I will be getting double eyelid surgery soon as a gift from my parents. I googled it online and so scared but I can't back down now because I already paid $500 deposit! Getting it done in March so there goes my spring break plans. MY last one too! ***Sigh***

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Sorry for lack of post. Been going through a lot with my recent LASIK eye surgery, horrible LSAT score and end of the semester. Entering my last semester of college then grad school. Well, good news, semi-good news, I told my mom I wanted to enter law school Jan of 2011 and she said yes. Thank goodness because my LSAT score is horrible and I haven't started on the applications yet. Yes, senioritis. I'm getting lazy.

But on a happier note, new BCBG MENDEL BOOTS. HIGH, but comfortable because of the platform. I'm almost 6 feet in these, love! BTW, got the boots for $323 including tax. ON sale and bought them through the phone and picked them up. I liked them when i saw them on Karen from whereyougetthat. Everyone went crazy after seeing them on seaofshoes but me I loved them on Karen and googled them to death.

And I finally got a 4.0 GPA this semester after getting 3.6's, 3.7's, 3.8's and 3.9's ( I hit a 3.0 in my second semester of my second year and that was an all time low for me. I was depressed especially when my school and education is the most important thing to me. Got caught up with college). I'm so happy I got a 4.0.

O yea, I also got an internship with a PR firm. If only my LSAT score was good, I would be on a roll. I guess we can't have the perfect life. My LSATs were the most important thing in my life so I am highly disappointed in myself. I have to hit the books again. If only I worked harder before, sigh. REGRETS, what can I say.

Sorry for jumping around. LASIK is fabulous (Thanks mom) but my eyes are still very red and the eye drops are annoying. I would recommend it if you can do it. I got mines done at Diamond Vision/Sharpest Vision. Great doctors and staff. Tiki Barber did his there (If it is good enough for a NFL great, it's good enough for me). The bad side of LASIK is you can't workout for a few days, which sucks for me because I do it everyday. I went crazy for a day and decided to jump on my home machine for 30 minutes. I miss the gym I go too. I love the feeling I get when I workout, incredible. Can't wait to get back into the whole swing of things again.

Bad thing is the gym will be packed because of people "trying" to keep their new years resolution. This will last for a few weeks until beginning of Feb. I hate this time but its good to see people "trying" to get into shape. I love it. I am the fitness nut in my family and among my group of friends. I'm not good with my diet so working out is necessary. Did I mention I use to weight close to 200 lbs and lost about 50 to 60 pounds. I don't weigh myself anymore because I will go crazy. I have OCD, a little.

Yes this is a long post. Good Luck and Happy New Year. Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years. Holidays are over but not for some, like me, who are Chinese because Chinese New Year is right around the corner on Valentine's Day!
